Monday Morning Musings

Grace and peace to you all this morning! I trust your Lord's Day was blessed. Mine certainly was. We had a wonderful day. Two baptisms (Drew Blondo and Destiny Butler), a wonderful time to remember our past, and an awesome meal (wasn't that pulled pork excellent!). Thanks to all who made it happen.
Remember …
  • My men's discipleship group starts this Sunday at 5pm. If you want to jump in, you can but we are running out of time to get your book ordered and in.
  • We have a membership class on August 24th, right after church. You may be interested in joining our church, a new member, or a long-time member just wanting to hear more about what it means to be a good church member. Let me know if you are interested.
Here's some links …
None too Old to Serve the King … fitting in light of our service yesterday.
CCM, Magnolia Farms, and Temptation … great article by Samuel James on the temptations of the “Christian celebrity.” Also, it's a great meditation on why your local church is so important.
Your Soccer Coach Has a Plan for Your Life … the dangers and idol of our sports culture, especially travel ball or club ball.
How to Traverse the Dark Side of God's Sovereignty … or in other words, how to deal with the hard things that God designs in our life.

“The church is like a river. If it gets wider instead of deeper it will lose its power.” —Puritan Thomas Manton
