Monday Morning Musings

Grace and peace to you all, in the name of Christ. I hope your Monday is a good one and that the Lord shines his face on you today.
  • Don't forget that this Sunday we have a baby shower for Elaine Pugh and the kid's musical at 5pm.
  • There's our annual Corn-Hole Tourney coming up on May 5th. Make sure you sign up and get a team in it to win it. It's a Cinco De Mayo theme.
  • Seniors Lunch this Wednesday at Uncle John's Diner.
Here's some links:
Good Cop, Bad Cop Parenting … not a good idea.
Screentopia … how much screen time is too much? I also cannot recommend highly enough the book The Anxious Generation by Johnathan Haidt. It's not a Christian book. In fact, the author is an atheist. But it shows you from the data that screens are killing our kids and he does offer some solutions. And, he misses some things. Chew up the meat and spit out the bones. You will learn something.
New Atheism … finally learns how to destroy Christianity. Recently the famous atheist Richard Dawkins called himself a cultural Christian. This article shows why his thoughts are now more dangerous that his overt hostility to belief in God. Here's a bonus article as well on his thinking on this.
The Cost of Non-Churchgoing … this article is also by a non-Christian, liberal paper. It does require a free account to read the whole thing, but notice the point it is making. Without church, people lose community and can't find it. What an opportunity for us?
People love truth when it enlightens them, but hate truth when it accuses them.”
Augustine
