Lots to Cover!

Blessings to you all this morning. I am thankful today for God's mercies and for gathering with you all for worship yesterday, even if I don't have a voice to sing with you. There's a lot going on in our church, so let me give you some updates:
  • Dusty's first Sunday at Falling Water was this past Sunday. Thankful for him and his family. Keep praying for them. We have formed a search team (KC, myself, Andy Foster, Jonathan King, and Trina Walker) to fill his position and currently getting resumes however we can. Please pray for us.
  • As for my voice … I have an appointment with an ENT next Wednesday. Pray for clarity and answers. I have a feeling that he will tell me that I just have to quit talking — period for a while, something I've not been able to do. I'm very frustrated and it's been a little bit disorienting (that's the word I've used). Need your prayers.
  • VBS is this weekend, July 19-20. It's Friday night and all day Saturday. Pray for our workers and pray for the little souls that hear the gospel. May that Christ would be glorified and kids would be drawn to him.
  • The Praying Life Seminar is August 16-17, a Friday night and Saturday morning (childcare provided). You must register. And you really should. Prayer is such a missing mark in our churches and lives. Often, it's because we don't know how or we are too distracted. This seminar will practically train you to.

In Tragedy … America needs a church.
Obviously, there's a theme here. I don't delve into politics much with these emails or my sermons. But we do need to think and respond biblically to this evil attempt on a person's life. Here's a word of caution for you: be careful. Be careful especially of misusing the Bible to interpret this event. I've seen it on Facebook and Twitter already.
100 Facets of the Diamond of Jesus … this is what we need most, no matter what is going on: to see Jesus. Don't go through these all at once. Take your time over days.
Please pray for our nation! Pray for your church! Pray!
“A sermon is not a lecture. It is not absorbing trivia. It is a heart-shaking assault on darkness and the very gates of hell, trumpeted forth so that sinners tremble and saints quake in wonder.” [Michael Reeves]
