Here are a few links I want you to be aware of, that I found helpful as I finish my week strong. You know, it's not so much how we start but how we finish. Hopefully, after Sunday you start your week strong, encouraged by Sunday services, but finishing strong is important. Finish well my friends and here's some articles to help with that:
Do you know what gospel-community is? Read this. By the way, the book he mentions, Life Together is absolutely worth the read.
Bring Back the Church Prayer Meeting! Well, we have one but more people should be there and this article gives you a good reason why, and perhaps one you've never thought of.
Why Men and Women Are Not Equal. Not sure I totally agree with all that is said here, but I do think he makes some really good points.
I'll close with a thought today. I read today in John's gospel where Jesus said to those who opposed him greatly, "You seek to kill me because my word finds no place in you" (John 8:37). Think about what that means. These men had so stuffed their minds and hearts with the wrong things that they had no room for Jesus' words. In other words, their souls had been shaped in a way that left them without any desire to hear from Jesus. And they are not the only ones this has happened or can happen to. Hours and Hours of exposure to the banality of TV and your favorite app or social media outlet will do the same thing. As John Piper said: "Page after page of the New Testament Gospels pile up reasons to turn off the television and listen to Jesus." Are you listening? Are you cultivating a heart for his words or a heart for the world? Does your heart have room for Jesus' words to fit?
